PATRICIA NORRIS MALARKEY
Digital & Learning Strategy Director
Patricia leads ECA’s digital and learning strategy for clients. She brings more than twenty years of experience translating communications and learning into the digital world. Her specialties include strategic program management, digital identity and communications, audience research, and partnership development. At National Geographic, Patricia directed digital interactive strategy and served as executive producer for Education on-line. She led the multimillion-dollar bottom-up development of an award-winning suite of next-generation learning technologies, digital content and channels, social media and marketing, and user and market insights, expanding the program more than ten-fold. Her work connected the Society’s high-profile research, media, and talent–and its iconic brand–with tens of millions around the world.
Patricia has worked with senior leadership at companies, nonprofit organizations and investment groups, in media, technology, the environment, education, and healthcare industries. She has managed major funding relationships, programs, and partnerships with leading companies, organizations, and government agencies, including Verizon, Google, Oracle, GE, Dawn/P&G, The American Association for the Advancement of Science, and NOAA. She has been a key team member in creating and launching citizen science initiatives, including BioBlitz, a ten-year program with the National Park Service, and The Great Nature Project, a worldwide social media crowdsourcing campaign that engaged Michelle Obama, Selena Gomez, Joe Jonas, and people from over 100 countries, and set two Guinness World Records. She has presented at national and international conferences and led innovation teams on digital communications and learning. Patricia earned an Ed.M. at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s prestigious Technology, Innovation & Education (TIE) program and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
